Privacy Policy

Last updated 11 September 2026

Tellwell helps you put what you are feeling into words before a doctor's appointment. That means you type and speak about your health, which is about as personal as information gets. This page explains, in plain language, exactly where that information goes.

The short version

Tellwell has no accounts and no login. Everything you enter is stored on your own phone. Two things leave your device, and only when you ask for them: the text of your answers, when you tap Generate Summary, and a voice recording, when you use voice input. Both are sent for processing and are not stored by us. Before anything is sent for the first time, Tellwell shows you exactly what will be sent and who it goes to, and asks you to agree — nothing leaves your phone until you do. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or tracking software of any kind.

Who is responsible

Tellwell is made and operated by Muhammed Raazi, an independent developer based in India. If you have any question about this policy or about your information, write to tellwellapp.3@gmail.com.

What stays on your phone

The following is saved in Tellwell's private storage on your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or visible to anyone but you:

If you delete Tellwell from your phone, all of this is deleted with it. There is no copy anywhere else for us to hold on to.

Your permission comes first

Tellwell does not send anything to an AI service until you have given explicit permission. The first time you ask for a summary, or the first time you tap the microphone, Tellwell shows you a screen that sets out three things before you decide:

If you decline, the AI features simply stay switched off and the rest of the app continues to work. If you agree and later change your mind, you can turn it off again under AI and data sharing in Settings, and nothing further will be sent.

What leaves your phone, and when

Only two things, and only in response to something you do:

The text of your answers
Sent when you tap Generate Summary
What you have written about your symptoms, how long they have lasted, how they affect your daily life, and what you hope to get from the visit, is sent to Google's Gemini service, which writes it into a summary and sends the text back. It is sent through our own server so that our access keys are never inside the app. Neither our server nor Google is asked to keep a copy, and nothing is stored on our server.
Your voice recording
Sent only when you use voice input
When you record instead of typing, the audio is sent through our server to Sarvam AI, an Indian speech-to-text provider, which converts it to text and returns the words. The recording is not kept by us. If you never use the microphone, no audio ever leaves your phone.
Your IP address
Seen automatically, kept for two minutes
Our server counts requests per IP address for about two minutes at a time, purely to stop somebody flooding the service. The counter expires by itself and is never linked to what you wrote, to a summary, or to you.

Who processes it for us

These companies handle the request and, like any internet service, see the network traffic involved. We only use providers whose terms commit them to protecting this information to a standard equivalent to the one described in this policy, including not retaining it beyond what is needed to answer the request and not using it to train their models. We have no arrangement with any of them to use your health information for advertising, and we do not permit it.

What Tellwell never does

Deleting your information

Because everything is stored on your device, you are in full control of it:

There is no server-side account for us to erase, because none was ever created.

Permissions Tellwell asks for

Each is requested at the moment you first use the feature, and Tellwell works without granting any of them.

Children

Tellwell is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. An adult may use Tellwell to prepare for a child's appointment, in which case the information entered about that child is treated exactly like any other information described here — kept on that adult's device, under their control.

Tellwell is not medical advice

Tellwell helps you organise and describe what you are experiencing so you can explain it to a qualified health professional. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice, and it is not a medical device. Nothing it produces should be used as a substitute for consulting a doctor. If you believe you are having a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information under laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, or the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation — including the right to access, correct, or erase it. In Tellwell's case you can exercise all of these directly on your device, because that is the only place your information is held. If you have a question or a complaint, write to tellwellapp.3@gmail.com and we will respond.

Changes to this policy

If Tellwell changes in a way that affects how your information is handled, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
